Every year I grow thousands of garlic, and always let a portion of them go to seed. I sell thousands of these "seeds" (which are called bulbils, and are actually a miniature bulb, not a seed) online each year. They are roughly the size of a grain of rice to a popcorn seed, depending on the variety. For those of you who want to increase your garlic stock cheaply, this is the way to do it. It takes 3 years to get them up to the big bulbs every one likes. But by that time, 100 bulbils can have multiplied to over 5000 bulbs (100 bulbils x 4 cloves x 4+ cloves x 4+ cloves = 6400++) in ideal growing conditions!! All for about the price of a packet of seeds!
I grow my garlic with no chemical pesticides or herbicides, and no manure fertilizers (to avoid ecoli). Natural fertilizers I use are a combination of leaves, fish emulsion, and/or seaweed extract.
This variety is German Extra Hardy. It is a hardneck porcelain variety. Like all garlic, if used raw it has a spicy flavor. However, this variety has a high sugar content in the bulb, which really mellows it out when cooked. A favorite for roasting, and a good all-around garlic. Stores extremely well...I've kept it as much as 12 months! When grown to full-size, can make a bulb that is 2-2.5" in diameter. This listing is for a quantity of 100+ bulbils.
My biggest selling garlic variety at farmers' markets and one of the most popular varieties with growers. SHIPPING INCLUDED TO USA ADDRESSES!
