Every year I grow thousands of garlic, and always let a portion of them go to seed. I sell thousands of these "seeds" (which are called bulbils, and are actually a miniature bulb, not a seed, about the size of a grain of rice or popcorn seed) online each year. For those of you who want to increase your garlic stock cheaply, this is the way to do it. It takes 3 years to get them up to the big bulbs every one likes. But by that time, 100 bulbils can have multiplied to over 5000 bulbs (100 x 4 x 4+ x 4+ = 6400++) in ideal growing conditions!! All for about the price of a packet of seeds!

I grow my garlic with no chemical pesticides or herbicides, and no manure fertilizers (to avoid ecoli). Fertilizers I use are a combination of leaves, fish emulsion, and/or seaweed extract.

This variety is Chesnok Red, another variety from the Republic of Georgia. It is a hardneck marbled purple stripe variety. Has a beautiful mellow flavor and is one of the best garlics for cooking and baking. Sweet. It's good for making ice cream, yes, you heard right, garlic ice cream. 8-12 cloves makes a bulb over 2" and stores for 6 months.
