Here is an old paperweight. Made by Baccarat, it is a flower or mushroom form made with small millefiori canes, framed in six windows. Six different colored rows around a center flower or sunburst. No stem, only an elongated bubble where the stem would be.

An old note taped on the bottom states: "#172-64, Baccarat 1953, Triple Overlay, Only 85 Made. Rare." Size is about 3.25" across and 2.25" high.

I would call it a double overlay, not triple, though in places the green does appear to have two layers which is probably why the note says a triple overlay.

It is not marked, but has the thin-line cross-hatching covering the entire base sometimes used by Baccarat. No doubt it originally had a paper label on it that has disappeared over the years.

I do not have the resource material to confirm the date and mintage, but I assume the original buyer knew what they were buying when they added that note. I have had half a dozen dealers tell me they were sure it was Baccarat. Certainly view the pictures and make your own determination.

Excellent condition with no cracks or chips.

I have seen similar weights priced today in the $2500-$3000 range. I'm offering this one way below that. It will be shipped wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap, double boxed with bubble wrap between the boxes.
