Antique Postage Stamp Quilt Top, Hand-Stitched, Handsewn, Around the World

Antique hand-stitched quilt top. This quilt was made, placed in a chest, and has sat there for 100 years until the estate was sold. As a result, colors are bright and there is no wear on the quilt.

Many postage stamps quilts are just done in a random pattern of mixed colors. This quilt was done in the Around the World pattern, which is expanding diamonds. It is 83" by 83", large enough to cover the top of any size bed up to a king. The smaller the bed the more it will overhang the sides. It has 3025 pieces that finish at 1.5" each and are perfectly aligned and symmetrical.

While this is only a top, it could easily be backed if someone wished to do that to make it a useable quilt, However, it displays very well just as is.

Pictures were taken outside under a tree to avoid sun glare. Last pic shows the reverse of the quilt to see the stitching.

This is some of the best handwork I've seen in the many quilts I've sold, and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection.
