Antique Playing Card Holder, Silver Plated, James W. Tufts

Here is a wonderful antique playing card holder. Made by James W. Tufts. Quadruplate #2680.

I found a similar one (different pattern) in Tufts' 1898 catalog. They call it a playing card holder. A related use in the day would have been calling cards. A modern day use could be as a business card holder or match safe. And I've even seen one advertised as a bud vase!

These are usually deeply tarnished, and sometimes bent or broken. This one is in phenomenal condition. Nice silver color throughout. Wonderful machining, in an intricate geometric and floral design. Size is 5" in high, 7/8"" deep and about 4-3/8" wide . Base is 2.75" in diameter.

About as nice as you'll ever find this piece.
